Lipstick has been a staple of every outfit but what was it like throughout history 1920s to 1960s





1920's










Lipstick Styled:
lips were smaller than the natural outline and fashioned into the ‘cupid’s bow’ shape.
The Colors:
Dark RoseDark Red
Soft Red
Orange



1930's












Lipstick Styled:
the cupids bow was replaced by thinner horizontal lines with upper lips enlarged and fuller.

The Colors:

Cherry Red
Orange Red

Deep Red
Bright Red
Pink Red




1940's

















History of lips sticks of the 40's :
Despite war rationing, women began using makeup from the teens onward. Just twenty years before – this would have been unthinkable. Women were encouraged to keep buying lipstick and to send letters to the front covered in ‘lipstick kisses’ to boost the moral of the soldiers.”

1950'S





How it was done:
Many women would create a "smile effect" that was achieved by drooping.

1960s



The Background to the lips :Lips were pale to help emphasize eyes.

1970'S




The Look : Women During the 1970s Wanted to look tanned and athletic looking so the minimum the better!
